Classic Rummy Rules
- Objective: The goal of Classic Rummy is to form valid sets and sequences using the cards in hand and be the first to declare the game.
- Deck and Jokers: Classic Rummy is usually played with two standard decks of cards, including printed jokers as wild cards. Jokers can be used to substitute any card to complete sets and sequences.
- Dealing: Players are dealt 13 cards each in a 2-player game, and 10 cards each in a 3 or 4-player game. The remaining cards form the draw and discard pile.
- Draw and Discard: On their turn, players must draw a card from the draw pile or the discard pile and must discard one card to the discard pile.
- Sequences and Sets: A sequence is a group of at least three consecutive cards of the same suit. A set is a group of at least three cards of the same rank but different suits.
- Pure Sequence: Every player must have at least one pure sequence, which is a sequence without any jokers.
- Impure Sequence: Additional sequences can be impure, with the use of jokers to complete the sequence.
- Valid Declaration: To declare, a player must have at least two sequences, out of which one must be a pure sequence. The remaining cards can be used to form sets or sequences.
- Wrong Declaration: A declaration without a valid arrangement of sets and sequences leads to a penalty.
- Finish: Once a player declares, all other players must show their cards, and if their cards are valid, they get a penalty score based on the remaining cards in hand.
- Scoring: The scoring is based on the value of the cards in hand. Face cards have 10 points, numbered cards carry their face value, and jokers have zero points.
- Winner: The player with the least score at the end of the game is the winner.
