Rummy Go Rules

Objective: The primary objective in Rummy is to form valid sets and sequences of cards and reduce the points in your hand. The game can have variations based on the specific Rummy variant being played.

  • Setup:

Number of Players: Rummy can be played with 2 to 6 players, depending on the variant.

Deck: A standard 52-card deck is used for most Rummy games. Jokers may be included and used as wild cards.

Dealing: A fixed number of cards are dealt to each player. The rest of the cards form the draw pile, and one card is placed face-up to start the discard pile.

  • Gameplay:

Turn Sequence: Players take turns in clockwise order. On your turn, you can typically do the following:

Draw: You can take a card from the draw pile or the discard pile.

Meld: You can place valid sets and sequences face-up on the table, known as “melding.”

Discard: You must end your turn by discarding a card onto the discard pile.

  • Valid Melds: A valid meld consists of:

Sets: Three or four cards of the same rank but different suits. Jokers can be used as substitutes.

Sequences: Three or more consecutive cards of the same suit.

Winning the Game: The game can end in one of two ways:

Declaring: When you have formed valid sets and sequences with all your cards and have discarded your final card.

Declaring with Zero Points: Some variants require the winner to have zero points or specific low points to declare.

Scoring: The value of unmelded cards in the losing players’ hands is counted as points. Face cards are typically worth 10 points, and numbered cards are worth their face value. Jokers, if used, often have zero points.

Ending the Round: Rounds may continue until a set number of rounds or until a player reaches a target score, depending on the variant.

  • Winning and Scoring:

Winning the Game: The winner of the game is the player with the lowest score or the first to reach the target score, depending on the variant.

Scoring Variations: Scoring rules can vary by the specific Rummy variant being played. Some variants may have unique scoring rules.
