Rummy Yes How to Play
Dealing the cards
The dealer shuffles the two decks of cards and deals 13 cards to each player. The remaining cards are placed face down in a pile in the center of the table. The top card of this pile is turned face up and placed next to it, forming the start of the discard pile.
Gameplay
On your turn, you must draw a card from either the stock pile (the face-down pile in the center of the table) or the discard pile. After drawing a card, you must discard one card from your hand to the discard pile.
Melding and laying off
During your turn, you can also meld and lay off cards. Melding involves arranging your cards into valid sets and sequences. Laying off involves adding your cards to existing melds on the table.
To meld cards, simply place them face up on the table in front of you. You can meld any number of sets and sequences, as long as they are all valid.
To lay off cards, simply place them face up on the table next to existing melds. For example, if there is a meld of 4-5-6 of spades on the table, you can lay off your 7 of spades.
Going out
To go out, you must have all of your cards arranged into valid sets and sequences. You must also have at least two sequences, including one pure sequence. A pure sequence is a sequence of three or more cards of the same suit in consecutive order that does not contain any jokers.
Once you have all of your cards arranged into valid sets and sequences, you can declare that you are going out. To do this, simply place your last card down on the table and say “Rummy!”
If your declaration is valid, you win the game. If your declaration is not valid, you must pick up all of the cards from the discard pile and add them to your hand.
Scoring
If you are the first player to go out, you score points for the cards remaining in the other players’ hands. Face cards count 10 points each, aces count 1 point each, and all other cards count their pip value.
If you are not the first player to go out, you score points for the cards remaining in your own hand.
